Contact Lenses Perth
When you want some time without your glasses, contact lenses provide the perfect alternative.
At Eye C Optometry we have a special interest in fitting contact lenses.
We’ll match you with the perfect contact lenses for your eyes and lifestyle.
Types of Contact Lenses
At Eye C Optometry South Perth we fit contact lenses for short-sightedness (myopia), long-sightedness (hyperopia), presbyopia, myopia control and astigmatism. We also fit multifocal contact lenses, extended wear lenses (lenses that can be slept in), contact lenses for kids and rigid gas permeable lenses (RGPs) for conditions such as keratoconus.
The contact lens fitting process
To ensure you can wear contact lenses, our optometrists will have an in-depth discussion with you to find out about your lifestyle. We’ll then examine the front structures of the eye, assess your tear film and measure your corneal curvature. This will help us find a pair of contact lenses which match your lens prescription and wearing needs.
You’ll then be taught how to fit put contact lenses in, then how to remove them. It may take a bit of time and feel unnatural at first, but we’ll give you all the time you need to feel comfortable about it.
We offer a wide variety of different contact lenses, and will choose the best product suitable for your eyes and your lifestyle.
Contact Lenses Options
There are many types of contact lenses available. Which lenses suit you depend on factors such as your prescription (how short or long sighted you are, if you have astigmatism etc), how often you plan to wear the lenses, whether you are prone to dry eyes or sensitivity, whether you need the lenses for reading as well as distance use, whether you plan on sleeping in the lenses, and if you are after a cosmetic change.
The most common types of contact lenses include:
- Daily disposables (both hydrogel and silicone hydrogel materials)
- Fortnightly or monthly disposables
- Toric lenses for the correction of astigmatism
- Multifocal contact lenses for the correction of presbyopia
- Conventional soft contact lenses
- Coloured contact lenses
- RGPs (Rigid Gas Permeable lenses)

Contact Lenses for Keratoconus
Achieve clearer vision with specialty RGP lenses.
Keratoconus is an eye condition in which the cornea (the clear dome at the front of the eye) thins and weakens causing it to change towards a more conical shape. This distorts light entering the eye resulting in blurry vision and light sensitivity.
In cases of moderate to advanced keratoconus, patients often can no longer achieve clear vision with glasses. The solution is to be fit with specialised rigid contact lenses. These lenses act as a new surface and make the corneal shape more regular.
If you have keratoconus and would like to talk to us about whether you require contact lenses and which contact lens type might suit you best, please don’t hesitate to contact us for an appointment or trial.
